What happens during an inspection?
The Chief assesses your pool or spa barrier against the rules that apply to your property - gate operation, latch height, barrier height, gaps and the non-climbable zone - then gives you a clear rundown of what passed and what (if anything) needs attention.
How long does an inspection take?
Most residential barrier inspections are quick - around 15 mins - but it depends on the size and layout of the property.
What if my barrier doesn't pass?
You won't be left guessing. The Chief explains exactly which items need attention and what's required to fix them, so you have a clear, practical path to compliance. A non-compliant barrier can't be certified until the issues are resolved.
Can I fix things and get a re-inspection?
Of course. Simply sort out the flagged items, book a free re-inspection, and the Chief re-assesses what needed attention.
When do I get my certificate?
The moment your barrier complies, your Form 23 certificate of compliance is issued.

Do you inspect rentals and commercial pools?
Residential, rental and commercial barriers are all covered by the Chief.
How should I prepare for the inspection?
Clear access to the pool area and make sure the gate and latch are working. A quick self-check of the common issues beforehand can save time.
